What does it mean to "GET DIRTY" in our Christianity!
From the beginning, serving has involved getting dirty. God Himself got His hands dirty when He created man. Jesus got His hands dirty cleansing lepers and healing the sick. If we want to get involved in the life of Jesus, it means we expect to Get Dirty. It may be dangerous and will for sure be fun. It is impossible to serve from a safe distance. Let’s roll up our sleeves, dive into the lives of those who need Jesus and wash some dirty feet!
We really hope it’s starting to become crystal clear that Club D is becoming a culture of servants. Part of developing a serving culture means that we have to be honest with each other by telling our fellow believers that serving others can "Get Dirty." It forces us out of our comfort zones and inspires us to get deeply involved in the mess that sin has left in our world.
At first, getting dirty is scary and unpredictable, but as we learn to serve it becomes fun. There is a progression to this series: It starts by laying the groundwork that God expects us to serve, not out of obligation, but out of a response of who we are in Christ. Jesus was a servant so we are servants. It then moves into the idea that when you serve, it can be risky. It’s dangerous taking a risk serving
others.
After a person, understands that getting dirty is expected and dangerous, it should move into the realm of fun and excitement. I am so excited to Get Dirty. As leaders in the church, let’s lead the way of becoming the dirtiest servant of all!
